VIDEO: Perry Curtis – Talk To Me Later (Dir. Adasa Cookey)

Perry Curtis is one of Port Harcourt’s finest artiste who’s been behind the curtains for a long time.
We just came across this very creative video shot by Adasa Cookey of Squareball Services.
It’s definitely one of the best videos we’ve seen this year from Port Harcourt. Watch it.

A random meeting with PerryCurtis immediately reveals one thing to the most casual of observers; his life is a continuous song. From the word go, you’re likely to find that Perry’s entire life is made up of music. PerryCurtis is a Portharcourt boy in every sense of it. Born and bred in Rivers .

A regular Joe by every standard, PerryCurtis completed his basic education in Nigeria, moving quickly through to his B.Sc in Geo-informatics and then proceeding to the University of Nottingham (UK) where he was awarded his M.Sc in Environmental Engineering. An ardent student, PerryCurtis found himself pursuing a career in the Oil and Gas industry with the same vigour as he put in his first love, music.

Today Perrycurtis is combining his full time work with recording his debut album. The journey to this actualization would take him through groups such as “Total Truth” in the year 2000, Kainos Family and then eventually as lead songwriter and vocalist for the critically acclaimed Christian underground music group “One Voice”, a group that went on to open for such major acts as Mike Aremu, Midnight Crew and Nwande Okeke on their separate UK tours in the years from 2007. PerryCurtis’ passion and zeal has quickly stood him out of all the groups he has joined and as nudged on by fans, friends and former group members, he launched his solo career in 2009. “PerryCurtis” takes influence from all the major genres of music including Afro, Native African, Afro-Soul, Contemporary Jazz, Soul, R&B, Reggae, Techno, Hip Hop and Naija Dance. It is laced with the purest of human emotion and carried through by the strength of PerryCurtis’ heartfelt
vocals. PerryCurtis hopes that his fans will sense a bit of Fela, Asa, Majek Fashek, 2Face, Maxwell, J. Moss, Jazmine Sullivan, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Brandy, Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill and Commissioned as they listen.

According to Perrycurtis his single ‘Talk to me Later’ describes everything he stands for. i.e good music, anti-oppression, speaking up and standing firm.

Fans should expect the self titled album in Jan 2012. Its not like anything you have seen.

“I didn’t get here first, and I clearly acknowledge those that came before me. I can only hope that I will not do as well as they did…but rather exceed them”. A tough act to follow, but with the radio airplay and overall favorable response, not a dream farfetched.

The “PerryCurtis” album will be available on itunes, amazon and other music stores in Nigeria, UK .
