It’s All Authentic: An Interview With JayDany | Plus His Stylish New Photos

Of all the stories that exemplify how fast things move in the music industry today, JayDany is one of the most impressive. JayDany honed his craft, made the most out of it, and in a matter of months his songs started racking up enormous figures of plays and downloads.

For some reason, there’s a common conception in the music industry that JayDany has been missing. His last projects, Move Ya Body + Shut It Down, dropped two years ago, and in our fast-paced culture, that’s enough to be considered a disappearance. Well, he’s back and here to stay consistent. That’s exactly what inspired the thematic essence of Smile, his forthcoming single named after the philosophical assertion that human principles, like love and happiness, rule the universe. He attributes his refined mix of ocean-crossing rhythms and melodic poise to years of practice. JayDany unpacked the spiritual and emotional journey that defines Smile, his first single to be released this year. Read the much he had to say.

SO TELL US YOUR STORY. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

Born to a military father,I’ve had to move from one part of the country to another as a child. But I’ll say I grew up in my home state (Akwa Ibom).

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BECOME AN ARTIST ?

Music has always been an inseparable part of my life since childhood. As a 7yr old boy playing drums in my church, up till my high school days(where I actually formed my first band, to my many years of leading/directing a couple of church choirs, I’ve always known that someday I’ll have to take music as a full-time work for me.

SINCE EVERYONE
WAS A START-UP ONCE , CAN YOU GIVE ANY SMALLER OR LOCAL BANDS
OR ARTISTS LOOKING TO GET GIGS AND AIRPLAY SOME TIPS?

Yeah.. Sure! Just keep improving in all aspects of your work. It is important to socialize; meet more gifted and talented folks who have interest in music, and try to connect with event organizers who is stakeholder/influencer in your region, and by also attending events that might be useful to you in getting out your music. And be consistent at your endeavors.

 DO YOU EVER
MAKE MISTAKES DURING PERFORMANCES? HOW DO YOU HANDLE THAT ?

Hahahaha…That has happened quite a number of times. As an experienced performer, I always expect something to go wrong. That’s why I always have a plan B. Also I’ll say the ability to handle or manage such situation when it happens; has been dependent highly on the fact that I perform live mostly. With a live band behind you as a performer, it’s easier to manage this kinda happenings than when performing with a DJ (Miming along what’s on your CD).

DO YOU TOUR ?
ANYTHING INTERESTING HAPPEN ON
TOUR THAT YOU THINK OUR
READERS WOULD ENJOY HEARING
ABOUT?

Sure,I’ve done a couple of tours. The last one was my nation wide radio/media tour six months ago.
The most interesting aspect and high-point for me during every tour has always been the reception and support from my fans and friends. Sometimes from people I naturally won’t expect support from. One typical example is the case of a very popular Dj from New York that called me a week after my last radio/media tour. He said he came across my songs through one of the online Chanel I was promoting my songs then. That he wanted my consent to use one of my songs as a sound track for his radio/TV shows. That was really big for me. It simply shows that people will always appreciate good music regardless if they know you or not.

5) ANY PLANNED
STUDIO UPGRADES ? WHAT ARE YOU
WORKING WITH NOW ?

Yeah…yeah.
I’m currently working on a new single which I intend to release officially on the 31st of this month. It’s gonna be probably one of my best efforts so far.
The song is about motivation/inspiration/hope/expectation and positive attitude. It’s totally different from the everyday songs you hear these days. I’m definitely sure y’all will love it.

HOW DO YOU
FIND WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR
MUSIC? WHAT WORKS BEST FOR
YOU?

Well, the world has become so digital that one can do so much even with a cell phone. My promotions has been mainly online. Digital online stores, social media platforms and Dj mixes.

IF YOU COULD
PERFORM ANYWHERE AND WITH ANY
ARTISTS ( DEAD OR ALIVE) WHERE
AND WHO WOULD IT BE WITH ? WHY?

Bob Nesta Malay… One of the greatest of all times. And 2Baba,.(One of the biggest voices that has ever come from africa). I’ve got so much respect for these men. They are the real embodiment of the kinna musician I wanna become not far from now. Seasoned professionals and masters of their individual craft.

IF YOU WEREN’T MAKING MUSIC, WHAT WOULD YOU
BE DOING ?

..If I wasn’t making music, I would have been talking on the radio/TV. Broadcasting. Or I’ll probably be playing football in one of the leagues in the the world. I love football.

10) WHAT SHOULD
FANS LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEXT YEAR OR SO ?

My friends, I don’t even like to call them fans. They’ve been so amazing and supporting. They should expect more heart warming singles and videos. A couple of collaborations are in the works too. Above all, they should keep supporting and showing love to the JayDany’s brand. I no go fit fall their hand,by God’s grace.

ANY SHOUT-
